The Yoga House, a beautiful, luxurious retreat centre on the tropical island of Koh Phangan, in the Gulf of Thailand. Well known for its party scene, stunning beaches and waterfalls, the island also has a large number of yoga and meditation centres, amazing vegetarian/vegan restaurants and a wonderful community spirit.

Teachers

Barbara and Karen met in 2015 during their Yoga Teacher Training on Koh Phangan and have a deep connection to the island ever since. Even though they followed their own paths after the TTC, developing their own teaching styles and going further on their studies separately, they stayed connected and are now happy to put their experiences together. They are hosting this retreat driven by their love for Yoga and for this beautiful Island equally.

What we offer

YOGA AND MEDITATION

First thing in the morning, we will have a guided meditation session. Different techniques will be taught for those who are interested, but if you are a more experienced meditator, you are welcome to keep your own practice. After the meditation, there will be a yoga class. Styles and themes will vary each day, so participants can experience different approaches and methods. In the Evening there will be a more relaxing yoga Class before Dinner.

EXCURSIONS*

On our first Saturday, we will visit the Night Market in Thong Sala, Koh Phangan’s town centre. It’s a chance for everybody to have a relaxed and fun evening, sample the local food and beverages, browse and shop for souvenirs, clothes and jewelry.

 

We will also spend one evening at The Dome, Koh Phangan’s best kept secret. A beautiful steam room in the middle of the jungle, with bonfire, music, tea and fruit served all night. It is one of the most magical experiences on the island.

 

With so many beautiful spots, it is essential to visit one of the island’s beaches and/or waterfalls. We will spend a day exploring, sunbathing, refreshing and connecting with the amazing nature this place has to offer.

ABOUT THE YOGA & MEDITATION

explore different styles

HATHA VINYASA

Combining breath and movement, yoga poses are performed in a seamless sequence, almost like a choreography, varying in intensity and pace.

YIN YOGA

A more meditative practice, where poses are held for longer periods of time, leading to deep relaxation and recovery.

ASHTANGA YOGA

Traditional method from the lineage of Sri K. Patthabi Jois, a fixed sequence of asanas combining breath, gaze, movement and stillness is designed to generate heat in the body, leading to purification and healing.

ACRO YOGA

The Yoga of trust. To be practiced with a partner, from soft therapeutic poses to spectacularly acrobatic ones. Here you can go out of your comfort zone, learn to let go and trust yourself and others.

THAI YOGA MASSAGE

The Healing touch. It belongs to the practice of Acro Yoga and is a relaxing Massage - for both the giver and the receiver - with influences from traditionally Thai massage and Yoga Asanas. The massage is mostly done by shifting your own weight towards the receiver following the rhythm of the breath, slow and conscious.

YOGA NIDRA

Known as the “Yogi Siesta”, this practice induces practitioners into a deep, relaxed state, physically and mentally.

MEDITATION

We will focus on Mindfulness and offer different techniques, including Vipassana and Active Meditations.

Yoga styles and meditation suitable and adapted to all levels and abilities, beginners are welcome

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Barbara

ABOUT

Barbara, a former events manager and now a full time yogini, completed her Hatha Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training in Thailand in 2015. Since then she has taken two other TTC´s and is constantly studying and learning to dive deeper into the yoga world. She is based in Germany but regularly follows the world calling and travels around. She combines her former profession with her interest in powerful places and her love for yoga to organize and teach yoga retreats around the world. She currently teaches a mix of different Yoga styles, all complementing each other. She loves the quiet and meditative yin yoga as much as the powerful and playful Acro Yoga. Always balancing Yin and Yang, in her practice and in life.

Karen

ABOUT

Karen has completed her Teacher Training in Thailand in 2015. Prior to that, she had a busy, corporate job in London, where she lived for 10 years, until the calling for freedom and the desire to live a more meaningful life have taken her to the island of Koh Phangan, where she has been living and teaching for 2 years.

Karen has studied with various teachers in Thailand and India, especially Alignment Yoga, Ashtanga and Advaita Vedanta, and has taught classes in the UK, Malaysia and India. She is also a Reiki master and can offer treatments on request.

Set in a tranquil space away from the busy main road, but still easily accessible, the Yoga House is a piece of paradise offering peace and quiet in a stunning setting. High ceilings, wooden floors, large and airy rooms, a huge balcony and a beautiful swimming pool are just some of the features you will be able to enjoy in this space.

We will provide a healthy breakfast every morning after the Yoga session and a delicious vegan Dinner in the evening.

OTHER OPTIONS

There is a Thai restaurant just 5 minutes-walk from the Yoga House and plenty of vegan and healthy restaurants and cafes on the island. Thong Sala is just a mere 5-minute drive away and Sri Thanu (the area where the yoga schools and most vegan restaurants are located) about 10/15 minutes drive.

Koh Phangan is one of the three main islands in the Gulf of Thailand. It is well known for its stunning nature and offers a little bit of everything, from gorgeous sunsets on the beach and delicious vegan restaurants on the West side to a lively night life in the town centre, from challenging hikes and beautiful waterfalls on the East side to fantastic diving spots up north. It is the perfect place for a getaway retreat, offering relaxation, adventure and fun in equal measures.

INSURANCE, VISAS AND VACCINATIONS

It is strongly advised to purchase travel insurance before you come to Thailand. We are not liable for any injuries, accidents or physical/mental issues arising during the retreat, inside or outside the premises.

Citizens from most European countries, the USA, Canada and Australia/New Zealand can enter and remain in Thailand for 30 days, receiving the Visa Exempt stamp upon arrival. For visa requirements for all countries, please check here.

Citizens from some countries are required to be vaccinated against Yellow Fever upon arrival in Thailand. Please check here for a list of countries.

Payment and Cancellation

PAYMENT OPTIONS

 

You can pay via creadit card or paypal. If you choose the offline paiment option your are asked to pay via bank transfer. Please be aware that you have to pay to a European Bank Account.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you cancel:

Cancellation up to 60 days before the start of the event: 75% refund

Cancellation up to 45 days before the start of the event: 50% refund

Cancellation less than 45 days before the start of the event: no refund

 

Please note that there will be no refunds or discounts for arriving late, leaving early, flight cancellations, travel delays, or illness.

 

If we cancel the retreat:

If we have to cancel the retreat due to lack of participants, 100% of the deposits/payments made for the retreat will be refunded. We cannot, however, compensate for airfare or any other travel costs incurred.
